“Turn all people to philosophers” prayed Socrates to God.
“May I know why?” asked God.
“I am discontent with the world I see and feel more corrupted if I stay around them” said Socrates
“My Child! What you seek is what you shall get” blessed God and disappeared
Next day,
Socrates woke up to a silent morning… all roads empty, markets shallow …
no alarm bells, no door bells,
no Church bells, and no School bells.
Socrates got curious about this changed order.
So, he went to Church and asked the Father, “Why the doors of heavens were shut?”
“I am pondering since dawn whether the holy doctrine is just a chance event or a grand design of the Almighty; so I missed my daily mass,” he explained.
Then, Socrates went to a school and asked the teacher, “Why the Gates of knowledge were still closed?”
“I am in quandary whether our academics ever serve the purpose of understanding the true challenges of life. As I got no answer from any book available in the entire library I left the students alone.”
To his surprise, Socrates wasn’t even served of his daily meal at home.
He asked his wife, “What made you miss your duties?”
She warmly replied, “My apologies my lord! I am puzzled for the whole morning which relishes the taste… the soul or the senses?”
Neither Socrates had an answer.
By the end of day, with innumerable questions pouring in across from his peers and students alike, he got more annoyed and decided to take back his words from God.
That Night he prayed God more intensely, begging on his knees to forgive him, grant him peace and return the world as it was.
At a thunderbolt struck, God reappeared and said, “I am committed to keep you at peace, and you shall be.”
The following day Socrates was turned into a Street Sweeper, cleansing all the dirt off Earth.
The Broom and The philosopher lived happily ever after.
